A mother who has spent her entire life wanting to become an astronaut has her dream fulfilled.
After working in the astronaut training program at NASA for nearly a decade, Jessica Bowers started her own company.
She’s worked on projects for the space agency and NASA’s Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate.
“It’s been an amazing experience, the fulfillment of my dream,” Bowers told Fox News in an exclusive interview.
“I just really want to go to space and be a part of that,” she said.
“This is a big opportunity for me.
I’m looking forward to being able to do this for my daughter, for my family.”
In a time when many of the country’s top women are leaving their jobs to become astronauts, Bowers hopes to become the first woman to take the first steps on the International Space Station.
She says she’s already got her eye on the job.
“We are not only going to see how we do, but we are going to really see what happens with that.
That’s the thing that really keeps me up at night,” Bower said.
Bowers’ first assignment will be in a space suit that she’s developed using her own money and her own sweat.
“My goal is to go in and make the first space walk.
That would be awesome,” she told FoxNews.com.
“If I can do that, I can help others.”
Bowers will be taking her own first steps into space.
She and her husband have set up a website, www.amazonmothers.com, that will help other mothers get started.
“There are a lot of mothers who are not sure how to get into space,” Bares said.
“They don’t know how to start their own business.
I have always been a space mom. “
We have the technology to make it possible, so why not go out and try to make a difference?”
I have always been a space mom.
It’s always been my dream to be a space astronaut.
This is my chance to make that happen.
And I really think this is going to be the best experience of my life.
“Bets for a career in space?
Bowers says she would be a great addition to the NASA program if she were to be selected for the NASA-backed crew.
Bridges says she wants to take a chance on NASA’s first female astronaut because of her family.”
If she goes to space, that would be incredible.
She would be so proud to have a daughter there.
She wouldn’t even mind if I got to be her mom,” Bains said.
The Bowers family has spent $300,000 on a family vacation to the Virgin Islands to be near her daughter.
